ātman is a music project started in 1996 by Robert Skèpis.

It explores the boundaries within and between traditional and contemporary music genres making use of field recordings, improvisation, experimental techniques and electronic production.

Skèpis works across genres, often using traditional folk music samples and concepts from around the world, against soft electronic instrumentation to produce oddly familiar sounding tracks.

ātman’s music is mostly categorized within the  world fusion / worldbeat / global fusion and downtempo / chillout / ambient clusters.
